Find Inclusive E-Learning Images

If you were to do a search on most stock image services for “business meeting,” you’d scroll through the results and find a lot of, to quote R.E.M., shiny happy people. People with traditional abilities seem to be the default.

When most e-learning designers think about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), they often think about characteristics such as age, gender, and race. But what about ability?

It’s possible to find images of people with a wide range of abilities, but you have to actively try to find them. Check out this video I created for the ATD Toolbox Tip series to help you be more inclusive in your image selection.

Update: It looks as though ATD’s YouTube channel has moved. You can find all the toolbox tip videos here: https://www.td.org/videos/toolboxtips
