Accessibility Features of Popular Authoring Tools
Last month at ASTD’s TechKnowledge conference, I held a session where I compared the accessibility features of popular authoring tools: primarily Captivate, Lectora, and Storyline. I’ve created a two-page table summarizing the major accessibility features of each.
All in all, the three software packages are extremely similar. You can use any of these three to make a good, usable, accessible course for those with disabilities who use assistive technology. And after conversations with all three software vendors, it is clear that they all see this as an ongoing commitment and plan to offer new accessibility features in future releases.
If you missed the presentation, I’ll be presenting an encore webinar on Thursday, February 16th at lunchtime for the DC ASTD Technology Special Interest Group. The session is free, and you do not need to be a chapter member to join. Sign up here if you are interested.
Cool resource! Will share.
This is a great resource and it appears very thorough. I was wondering about the table of contents (TOC), how accessible is the TOC in each?
